Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler (born Jason Isaac Cutler August 3, 1973 in Sterling, Massachusetts) is an IFBB professional bodybuilder and the current Mr. Olympia, a title he has won three times.

Biography

Cutler started working in his family's concrete construction business, Cutler Bros. Concrete, at the age of 11, and started training when he was 18 years old as a senior at Wachusett Regional High School. He graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in 1993 with a degree in criminal justice with the intent to work as a guard for a maximum security prison. Cutler quickly excelled at the sport and took his first overall win in 1993 at the Iron Bodies Invitational. His first contest was the 1992 Gold's Gym Worcester Bodybuilding Championships, at which he took second place. He won consecutive Arnold Classic titles in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and placed 2nd to Ronnie Coleman in the Mr. Olympia four times before claiming the title in 2006. Cutler won the Olympia for a second consecutive year in 2007, and was poised for a third before Dexter Jackson pulled the upset and took the title in 2008. Jay Cutler became the 3rd Mr. Olympia in history (other than Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu) to reclaim the title, and the only Mr. Olympia in history to reclaim the title after having it lost, by returning on stage and defeating the reigning champion Dexter Jackson in 2009.

Personal

Cutler endorses MuscleTech supplements and has been featured in several fitness magazines such as Muscle and Fitness and Flex. He currently lives in Las Vegas with his wife Kerry, and trains at several Gold's Gym locations in the area.

Dorian Yates

Dorian Andrew Mientjez Yates (born April 19, 1962 in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England), is an English professional bodybuilder, winning the Mr. Olympia title six consecutive times beginning in 1992.
His reign ended with his retirement, prompted in large part by an accumulating list of chronic and career-threatening acute injuries; Yates had suffered both a torn biceps and triceps, the latter just three weeks prior to his final contest, his successful defense of the Mr. Olympia title in 1997. His professional record on retirement consisted of 15 wins and two second-place finishes.

Yates is considered to have revolutionized training in the sport of bodybuilding.[citation needed] He is a noted proponent of Mike Mentzer's espoused style of training, known as HIT or "High Intensity Training". Though as his interviews and published workouts show, in practice Yates himself sometimes modified his application of Mentzer's theories considerably. HIT advocates several different exercises and very few sets for a bodypart allowing it to be hit from all angles for optimum development. He believed that muscle stimulation could be caused in a shorter period of time with the proper intensity rather than working out for extended periods of time. Yates recommended only one working set for compound exercises and Yates' less-is-more philosophy wasn't shared by many of his contemporaries.

Post competition career
Yates purchased a gym in 1987 called Temple Gym on Temple Street, Birmingham, England. In 2006 he franchised Temple Gym hoping to make it a worldwide chain, currently there are four branches, three of these in the UK.

In 1998, he joined Kerry Kayes to work for the newly named bodybuilding supplement company "Chemical Nutrition" (originally "Chemical Warfare", now "CNP Professional"), with their Dorian Yates Approved range for launch in the United States.

Yates left CNP Professional in 2006 to pursue his own interests and began a new supplement company "Dorian Yates Ultimate Formulas". As of 2008, the Dorian Yates website was re-designed, aiming to offer a variety of services, including virtual training sessions, along with access to premium content.

Books and videos

In 1993 Yates published an autobiography titled Blood and Guts (ISBN 978-0963616302). In 1996 Yates released a workout video of the same title, featuring his typical week's weight training.

In 1998 he co-authored A Warrior's Story (ISBN 978-0953476404) in which he writes how he became the top professional bodybuilder.

Kai Greene

I was born July 12th in Brooklyn, NY. At the age of six, I became a ward of the state of New York due to a problematic home environment. For the next ten years, I would be in transitional placement moving from several foster homes to institutional placements. It was within this environment I found weight training as my refuge.

Deep inside of my soul, there resided many talents that few people were aware of most importantly my burning desire to be a visual artist. My two worlds would eventually meet and interconnect as my own body became my subject of study. I became my own living model. I utilized my own physique to gain a greater understanding of space and movement, creating works of art that became increasingly detailed and complex over time.

My exponential growth and development drew the attention of my 7th grade English teacher. Since my school conduct was far below the expectations tolerated by the facility that housed me, I was introduced to the idea of teen competition. Because of my enthusiasm and desire to measure my physique against competitors my own age, bodybuilding became the behavior modification tool that would prevent me from becoming a so-called "statistic".

The beginning of my bodybuilding career helped me to build my confidence and the belief in my own ability as a bona-fide competitor. I spent the better part of my middle school traveling to different shows and taking teen titles. After taking second for the first time in my young competition career, I decided to take a hiatus to pack on some real muscle and re-emerge as a force like no one had ever seen.

It was at this time that I was introduced to what would become my home and institute for competitive education, 5th Avenue Gym. It was in this small basement gym in Brooklyn, NY that I met some of the most impressive natural athletes the world had to offer. It was here that I would soak up the knowledge that would provide me the ammunition necessary to destroy the biggest bodybuilding monsters.

Before my 19th birthday I turned pro with a natural organization, and held the distinction of being the youngest natural professional bodybuilder in the world. My pro status allowed me to take my competitive aspiration to a larger stage.

I won every professional title that organization had to offer. In the summer of 1997, I set my sights on gaining professional recognition with the IFBB. It was brought to my attention that in order to gain pro status I would have to first qualify through their amateur organization called NPC.

My competitive career with the NPC was filled with mixed success. As a natural athlete, my goal was to win the Team Universe and acquire pro status with the IFBB through the Amateur World Championship. In 1999, after two unsuccessful attempts, I won the heavyweight division and overall title at the Team Universe and was invited to compete at the World in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Recognizing that I had placed fourth out of dozens of the world's best competitors, I was still disappointed. I took a four year hiatus to re-group and continue the never ending work on developing my physique. I was determined to take my rightful place in the pro ranks.

The nay-sayers said that it couldn't be done, and I began to believe them. I went to school and focused on developing my talent as an artist while continuing to use my own physique as my artistic learning tool. I continued to do what had always brought me great comfort and feelings of stability and consistency; I trained and trained hard, but not for the purpose of anything but my own peace of mind.

In 2004, it was brought to my attention that the NPC Team Universe had become a Pro-Qualifier for the IFBB. Though I had been away from the competitive scene for five years, I committed to myself that I would return to reclaim my title as Team Universe overall champion and ascend to the IFBB pro ranks. As a result of my dedication and desire to overcome the ever-surmounting odds against me, I arrived from my home in Jacksonville, Florida to NYC's Tribeca Performing Arts Center to do damage. On August 8th 2004, the judges recognized the physique that I labored for so many years and awarded me the heavyweight and overall championship by unanimous decision. My day had finally come. After 16 years, I finally made the transition to the IFBB Professional ranks.

Silvio Samuel

* FULL NAME; Silvio Samuel Saviour

* AGE: 33 * HEIGHT: 5'6"

* BIRTHDATE: March 8,1975

* Birthplace Natal, Brazil

* Current residence Fullerton, California

* Contest weight At the Ironman, I was 222. I'm trying to put on more weight and size, though not much for every show.

* Offseason weight I don't normally have an offseason. It's very easy for me to shift into competition at two or three pounds lower than the offseason weight. I weighed 230 in January, but after the Olympia, I was guest posing all around Europe, Venezuela, Hawaii and Oklahoma.

* Marital status I am currently single.

* Early sports experience I started weight training when I was 13 years old, and I started competing in weightlifting when I was 14. I've been weight training all my life. I had a Nigerian national record, which serves as an African record, as well. This qualified me to go to the world championships in Indonesia, and I did win as a junior, because I was 17 then.

* Influences to begin competing Alfonso Gomez, a bodybuilding official in Spain, was the one who introduced me to this game. He insisted that I had a very good physique. I was very shy then, and I thought putting on trunks was like being naked. I felt it was taboo, and my family wouldn't like it, because we were so religious. But he was able to talk me into it and that was how everything started. When I started winning, I started traveling, and it became a really good experience.

I'd like to thank Dexter Jackson. I approached him in 2006 at an expo in Germany. He really inspired me to compete as a pro. I was kind of afraid, since I was a smaller guy. How would I fit in?

He told me they're looking for physique and, after he saw me guest posing, he said I have the physique, I could improve on it, and that I have to come to America. I give him my respect and trust. That goes for Chris Cormier, as well. Their advice gave me the confidence to come to the United States.

* First bodybuilding contest The Francisco Del Yerro in 2001. It was in Spain, a local competition. I won the category, the class and the overall. Then I went on to win the NABBA world championships in the class and also overall. My first IFBB pro contest was the 2006 New York Pro.

* Major wins I won the overall at the IFBB Joe Weider Trophy in France in 2004. That was the win that gave me the pro card to be able to compete in the United States. My first major win since turning pro was the 2007 Europa Super Show last year, where I won the 210-and-under class and the open class. too. I really worked and planned for it. I felt so happy because after six qualifications in all the shows leading up to the Olympia, I needed a win. The win really boosted my own morale for the Olympia.

* Biggest career disappointment Actually, here in the United States, there is none at the moment. The biggest disappointment was in Spain. Bodybuilders didn't get enough support. There was no encouragement, nothing to help you move ahead. I had to work in something else like security, 13 hours every day, to be able to raise money. But I did so for the love of this sport. I had the patience to do that, but it was a great disappointment to me, because I needed help then. I wanted somebody to know that I love this game and I could be something in this game. There were people who could have helped in Europe, but they told me that nobody made a living from bodybuilding. At that point, I had to think of coming over to the United States when I had my pro card.

* Bodybuilders whose physiques you most admire A bodybuilder who I thought I could be similar to because he was smaller and was always sitting in the top five was Shawn Ray. At this moment, the kind of physique I like most is Dexter Jackson's. Silvio is a Brazilian native who went from amateur to pro, when he was discovered by MuscleGallery in 2005 and received pro status in 2006.Silvio moved to Nigeria at a young age and joined the Nigerian national weightlifting team at age 14. Over the next few years he set powerlifting records for Nigeria and Africa that still haven't been broken.

* Least-favorite exercise Even while I was in weightlifting, I never thought of not doing any exercise. I believe bodybuilders need more work on all the parts of the body, so that means you cannot exempt any exercise. I like every part of training with weights.

* Favorite city I believe Southern California is the best place to be. I also like Miami.

* Traits you admire most in others I like people who are outspoken. And respectful, because I try to respect people.

* Traits you admire most in yourself I am a very easygoing person. I like to treat people just the way I would like them to treat myself, with respect and honesty.

* Favorite book Become a Better You by Joel Osteen. I would recommend you to get it; it will be very very useful.

* Favorite TV show I watch mostly truTV now, which was Court TV before. I want to know the wrong things that are going on, and how I should be living my life here in order not to get in trouble. I like truTV, to see what is really happening.

Phil Heath

Phillip Jerrod Heath (born December 18, 1979 in Seattle, WA) is an IFBB professional bodybuilder.
Nicknamed "The Gift", Heath played basketball for the University of Denver before turning to bodybuilding in 2002. His hard work quickly paid off when he won the overall title at the 2005 NPC (National Physique Committee) USA Championships and earned the right to compete as an IFBB Pro. "The Gift" immediately made a splash in the IFBB, winning his first two pro events in 2006, which were The Colorado Pro Championships and The New York Pro Championship.

Phil placed fifth at the 2007 Arnold Classic, although fans and critics had him as high as 3rd place. Nonetheless, it qualified him to compete in the 2007 Mr. Olympia contest. Heath decided not to compete at the contest, stating that he needs more time to improve in order to be competitive.

This proved to be a good move, as he ended up winning the 2008 Iron Man show and placed second to Dexter Jackson at the 2008 Arnold Classic. Phil finished 3rd in his Mr Olympia debut in 2008, and became the first rookie to place in the top 3 since Flex Wheeler in 1993. He was a heavy favorite for the 2009 Mr Olympia title but placed 5th. Phil caught a stomach virus 24 hours before the Friday prejudging and caused him to come in to the Olympia's first day roughly 10 pounds lighter than he had planned.

Heath has been featured in many fitness and magazine articles, including being featured on the cover of FLEX magazine. Heath currently resides in Denver, Colorado. And trains at Armbrust Pro Gym in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Dexter Jackson

Dexter's first NPC (National Physique Committee) competition was the NPC Southern States Championship of 1992, where he took 3rd. He first competed professionally in the 1999 Arnold Classic, Night of Champions, and Mr. Olympia contests, placing 7th, 3rd, and 9th, respectively.

At the 2007 Mr. Olympia, Jackson placed 3rd, and many critics said he would not likely place any higher. On September 27, 2008, he defeated the reigning two-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler to become the twelfth man to win that title, and only the second to have won it and the Arnold Classic title in the same year.

2008 was a great year for Dexter, as he won the Arnold Classic, Australian Pro Grand Prix VIII, New Zealand Grand Prix, Russian Grand Prix and the Mr. Olympia. Jackson placed 3rd in the 2009 Mr. Olympia contest.

Dexter has been featured in many fitness and bodybuilding articles, including being pictured on the cover of Muscular Development and Flex magazine. He is currently shooting his new documentary DVD titled Dexter Jackson: Unbreakable with filmmaker Alex Ardenti of Ardenti Films in Florida and California to be released in 2009.

Branch Warren

Branch "The Texas Titan" Warren was born February 28, 1975 in Tyler, Texas. He got his start in bodybuilding early when he took to the stage in 1992 – still a highschool freshman – winning the AAU Teenage Mr. America competition. It was apparent, even in the beginning, that he was willing to do whatever it took to build a better physique. Day after day he would sneak into the neighborhood gym through the back door because he couldn’t afford a membership. After getting his first taste of success at such a young age, his love for the sport of bodybuilding only grew. With the right combination of determination and great genetics he entered his first National Physique Committee (NPC) event, the NPC Teenage Nationals, where he won again.

It was Branch’s early success that built the muscular foundation that helped launch him into the pro ranks in 2001 by winning the National Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships, earning him his Pro card. But it was 2004 that catapulted his already-promising career to new heights when he made his pro debut at the Night of Champions placing 8th, and taking the bodybuilding world by storm. In 2006, he competed in his first Arnold Classic, almost winning the competition by taking 2nd place!

Today, Branch Warren is one of bodybuilding’s top pros. This Texas Titan continues to push his world-class physique to new heights. The words “thick,” “grainy” and “vascular” all describe the larger-than-life structure that has become Branch Warren – earning him respect from fans and competitors alike. And, this year, the 2008 Arnold Classic proved to be another pivotal contest for Branch’s pro career as he earned himself his second Most Muscular award amidst a heavily muscled pro line-up.

From those humble early beginnings to turning pro, Branch Warren shows no sign of letting up anytime soon. In fact, Branch says, “To become a great professional bodybuilder, you need to be dedicated, consistent and have the drive to want to compete. No matter what comes your way, you’ve got to be able to push past it and persevere. It’s all about reaching your goals.”
Warren first competed in 1992 when he won the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Teenage Mr. America competition. His first National Physique Committee (NPC) event was the Teenage Nationals, where he won again. His first IFBB event was at the 2004 Night of Champions competitions, where he placed 8th. His first Mr. Olympia was in 2005, where he placed 8th. The following year, in 2006, he competed in his first Arnold Classic for a 2nd place finish. While slipping to 7th place in 2007, he improved to 4th place in 2008 and 3rd in 2009, while winning the title of "Most Muscular". Warren placed 12th in his 2nd Mr. Olympia contest in 2006. Warren also placed 1st at the 2007 New York Pro.

After not competing in the Olympia in 2007 and 2008, Warren returned to shock the bodybuilding world by placing 2nd at the 2009 Olympia, one spot ahead of 2008 Olympia winner Dexter Jackson, and losing only to three time winner Jay Cutler.
Warren has featured in many bodybuilding magazine articles, as well as appearing on the magazine cover of Muscular Development. He endorses MuscleTech supplements. He currently lives in Keller, Texas with his wife Trish Warren, and often trains at MetroFlex Gym in Arlington, Texas.

Alongside his eight Mr. Olympia wins as a professional bodybuilder, Coleman holds the record for most wins as an IFBB professional with 26 wins. He broke the previous record (held by Vince Taylor at 22 wins) in Moscow on November 5, 2004.

Coleman graduated from Grambling State University (GSU) in 1986 with a degree in accounting[citation needed]. While attending Coleman also played football with the GSU Tigers under famous coach Eddie Robinson. After graduation, Coleman became a police officer.

Coleman supports the Inner City Games, an organization that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger co-founded in 1991. He was the recipient of the 2001 Admiral in the Texas Navy Certificate Award from Texas Governor Rick Perry for outstanding achievements in bodybuilding and for the promotion of physical fitness.

On June 30, 2009 on MuscleSport Radio, Coleman stated that he would compete in the 2010 Mr. Olympia competition.Coleman also indicated that he would not participate in the 2009 Mr. Olympia competition for lack of preparation time. Arnold Schwarzenegge

Schwarzenegger was born in Thal, Austria, a small village bordering the Styrian capital Graz, and was christened Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. His parents were the local police chief Gustav Schwarzenegger (1907–1972), and his wife, Aurelia Jadrny (1922–1998). His father served in World War II with the German Army as a Hauptfeldwebel of the Feldgendarmerie and was discharged in 1943 after contracting malaria.
His favoritism was "strong and blatant," which stemmed from unfounded suspicion that Arnold was not his child.Schwarzenegger has said his father had "no patience for listening or understanding your problems… there was a wall; a real wall.Schwarzenegger had a good relationship with his mother, and kept in touch with her until her death
As a boy, Schwarzenegger played many sports—heavily influenced by his father. He picked up his first barbell in 1960, when his football coach took his team to a local gym.At the age of fourteen, Schwarzenegger chose bodybuilding over football (soccer) as a career.Schwarzenegger has responded to a question asking if he was age thirteen when he started weightlifting.
Schwarzenegger moved to the United States in September 1968 at the age of 21, speaking little English. In 1971, his brother Meinhard died in a car accident.Schwarzenegger is considered among the most important figures in the history of bodybuilding, and his legacy is commemorated in the Arnold Classic annual bodybuilding competition. Schwarzenegger has remained a prominent face in the bodybuilding sport long after his retirement, in part because of his ownership of gyms and fitness magazines. He has presided over numerous contests and awards shows.
For many years, he wrote a monthly column for the bodybuilding magazines Muscle & Fitness and Flex. Shortly after being elected Governor, he was appointed executive editor of both magazines, in a largely symbolic capacity. The magazines agreed to donate $250,000 a year to the Governor's various physical fitness initiatives. The magazine MuscleMag International has a monthly two-page article on him, and refers to him as "The King".
One of the first competitions he won was the Junior Mr. Europe contest in 1965.He won Mr. Europe the following year, at age 19.He would go on to compete in and win many bodybuilding contests, as well as some powerlifting contests, including five Mr. Universe (4 – NABBA [England], 1 – IFBB [USA]) wins, and seven Mr. Olympia wins, a record which would stand until Lee Haney won his eighth consecutive Mr. Olympia title in 1991.

Competition Weight: 240 lbs (top 250 lbs)

Off Season Weight: 260 lbs
In 1967, Schwarzenegger competed in and won the Munich stone-lifting contest, in which a stone weighing 508 German pounds (254 kg/560 lbs.) is lifted between the legs while standing on two foot rests. Schwarzenegger has said the following on his size: "During the peak of my career, my calves were 20 inches, thighs 28.5 inches, waist 34 inches, chest 57 inches, and 22-inch arms.
Schwarzenegger's goal was to become the greatest bodybuilder in the world, which meant becoming Mr. Olympia. His first attempt was in 1969, when he lost to three-time champion Sergio Oliva. However, Schwarzenegger came back in 1970 and won the competition, making him the youngest ever Mr. Olympia at the age of 23, a record he holds to this day.

He continued his winning streak in the 1971–1974 competitions. In 1975, Schwarzenegger was once again in top form, and won the title for the sixth consecutive time, beating Franco Columbu. After the 1975 Mr. Olympia contest, Schwarzenegger announced his retirement from professional bodybuilding.
Months before the 1975 Mr. Olympia contest, filmmakers George Butler and Robert Fiore persuaded Schwarzenegger to compete, in order to film his training in the bodybuilding documentary called Pumping Iron. Schwarzenegger had only three months to prepare for the competition, after losing significant weight to appear in the film Stay Hungry with Jeff Bridges. Lou Ferrigno proved not to be a threat, and a lighter-than-usual Schwarzenegger convincingly won the 1975 Mr. Olympia.
Schwarzenegger came out of retirement, however, to compete in the 1980 Mr. Olympia.Schwarzenegger was training for his role in Conan, and he got into such good shape because of the running, horseback riding and sword training, that he decided he wanted to win the Mr. Olympia contest one last time. He kept this plan a secret, in the event that a training accident would prevent his entry and cause him to lose face. Schwarzenegger had been hired to provide color commentary for network television, when he announced at the eleventh hour that while he was there: "Why not compete?" Schwarzenegger ended up winning the event with only seven weeks of preparation. After being declared Mr. Olympia for a seventh time, Schwarzenegger officially retired from competition.
