BIOGRAPHY
Flex Wheeler was born in the year 1965 on august 23rd. he was born in Fresno, California, USA. His real name is Kenneth Wheeler.
He is five feet nine inches tall and weighs 235 lbs during competitions and 275 lbs in other seasons. His arms measure 22 inches.
As a teenager Wheeler always wanted to get into martial arts. This led him to bodybuilding. He started his career working for the police force. He then opted to full time bodybuilding.
This is where he earned the name Flex. He started participating in event from 1983 but it was in the year 1989 that he actually won the title NPC Mr. California. He has won the Pro winner five times and the Arnold Classic four times.
In the year 1994, Wheeler met with an accident and was to be paralyzed for the rest of his life. But he was very determined to stand up on his own feet. He started working out right from the beginning and was cured quiet early. In the year 1999, he was diagnosed with Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. This is a type of a disease in the kidney. He then retired in the year 2002. A kidney transplant was done in the year 2003.
After retiring Wheeler again concentrated on what he first wanted to do that is martial arts. Kemp-Kwon-Do is what he is specialized in. in the Arnold Classic Wheeler demonstrated his fights.
Some of the contest won by Wheeler is AAU Teen Mr. America, NPC California championship, NPC USA Championship, IFBB Iron man Pro Invitational, IFBB Arnold Classic, IFBB Night of the Champions, IFBB Florida cup Pro, IFBB San Jose Pro, IFBB Hungarian Grand Prix. Some other contests where he participated are, IFBB Mr. Olympia, IFBB Grand Prix England, IFBB Canada Pro Classic, IFBB Grand Prix Spain, NPC Nationals etc.
Flex is also called as The Sultan of Symmetry. This is because of his excellent body and because he is a thorough professional. He has been regarded as being rude and over confident on stage at times. He is a strong man and works out for his body on a daily basis.
Currently he is concentrating on martial arts and is doing well in it. Bodybuilding has been a passion for him and he has lived for it all his life. It was also said that the muscles of Wheeler were because of genetic mutation.
Wheeler is a fighter as he had the capacity to fight all his problems and resolve them. The major problem was his accident that would have left him bed ridden for life. But he did not lose faith and had good will power which was why he was able to stand up again.
